Turquoise Table

turquoise-table
My friend gave me this table,
and I knew right away what I wanted it to be turquoise.
I sanded the top down to the bare wood, then roughed it up for a very rustic look.
Then, I painted the base in SW Freshwater
and did some distressing.
The top was stained with Minwax Provincial.
I love how all the dents and dings stain darker than the rest.

I also stained the legs with the Provincial to antique the turquoise. I just wiped it on, let it sit a minute, and wiped it off. If some areas were a little heavy, I simply sanded it once it was more dry.

Now all that is left is the final finish (topcoat).
I’ll be back in a day to two for some Product Knowledge 101.

  1. I’m in the middle of trying something like this with a dresser I got at a garage sale! I am so excited to see how it turns out. I’ll be using it as my entertainment center. This is so me! Thank you for this inspiration! :)

  2. HI!

Wow, this is stunning!! I’m actually going to do this with one of my tables…just love the look!! Can I please ask what stain you used for the top….and also what stain you used over the turquoise legs?
    thanx :)

  3. i just saw this on pinterest. it looks great but you might want to remove it from your blog so that your friend doesn’t want it back!!! :) thanks for the info. now to find a friend with an extra table. 😉

  4. I am preparing to paint our kitchen table similar to the one you have shown. We bought some paint samples and stain and I started practicing on some pieces of wood we had lying around but I cant get them to look quite the same. I painted it, wiped on provincial minwax and wiped it off but it just looks dirty now. The paint is flat because that’s all they had in that size and brand but I am wondering if the paint needs to be in satin or semi gloss. What do you think? Any advice would be helpful. Thank You!!!~M

  5. Just wondering…..it’s been over 2 years since you posted this….but you do know that pinners are still pinning like caaaraaaaazy! So what I am wondering, what color chairs did you go ?

  6. Hi Christa,
Just wondering what kind of SW paint you used for this? My parents are making me a craft table and I’m planning to use the Freshwater color but wasn’t sure what type of paint to buy, gloss, semi-gloss, etc. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Your table turned out beautiful! :)
